Contract Awarded to Georgiou Group
Project Overview:
This project is an upgrade of the Roe Highway and Karel Avenue interchange to reduce congestion and improve access for local residents of Leeming and Bull Creek.
Currently, the Karel Avenue intersection experiences significant traffic during peak periods with the issue likely to be exacerbated due to residential projects and the development of the Jandakot Airport precinct.
Project Upgrades:
- Widen Karen Avenue bridge over Roe Highway to develop a new dual carriageway.
- Widen Karel Avenue between Roe Highway and the Berrigan Drive roundabout to a four-lane dual carriageway alongside extending Karel Avenue between the Farrington Road intersection and Roe Highway to four lanes.
- Extending the existing Karel Avenue underpass to accommodate the widening.
- Extend the existing Karel Avenue bridge across the freight railway line (south of Roe) to facilitate construction of the Thornlie-Cockburn Link.
Commencement:
July 2019.
Expected Completion:
August 2021.
